I'm friends with enough people working in the embassy to know that all of these changes have been a long time coming. From the amount of staffers and military working at the embassy, to being in the process of transforming the Ambassador's Suite from a game room into an actual living space, it looks like the U.S. and Syria are about to have a very different relationship.
